9.1.
DETACHMENT AWARDS
During
the semester, each cadet is looked at and ranked in performance.
For those cadets who excel, they are nominated for
certain awards. These
nominations go before the Command Staff and Cadre, who decide
which cadets will receive what awards.
The following is a list of the awards that a cadet may
receive:

Superior
Performance Ribbon: Awarded for a single or sustained performance of a superior
nature. Limited
to the top 5 percent of the Corps.

Leadership
Ribbon: Awarded
for outstanding performance in a position of leadership as a
cadet officer. Limited
to 10 percent of the POC.

Physical
Fitness Ribbon: Awarded for sustained participation an outstanding
performance in a locally developed physical fitness program.
A cadet must also meet the required PFT/1.5 scores:
PFT -- 425 (Male/Female), 1.5 -- 9:30 (Male) and 11:54
(Female).

Honor
Flight Ribbon: Awarded
to each member in the Honor Flight of the semester.

Scholarship
Ribbon: Awarded
upon receiving an AFROTC scholarship.

Honors
Ribbon: Awarded
to cadets who have maintained an average term GPA of 3.0 or
above for one full term.
The cadets must also have an average of a 3.5
cumulative GPA in Aerospace Studies.

Recruiting
Ribbon: Awarded
for outstanding effort in support of unit recruiting
activities. Limit
to 10 percent of the Corps.

Warrior
Spirit Ribbon: Awarded
each semester to a cadet in each Aerospace Studies class
that best exemplifies the Warrior image.
Criteria should include appearance, physical fitness,
attitude, enthusiasm, Corps position, and support of the
unit Warrior program. No
cadet is eligible to win the award more than once.

Drill
Team Ribbon: Awarded
to cadets actively participating in an AFROTC drill team,
color guard, musical marching unit, or band.
Permanent wear of the ribbon requires participation
in one or more of the listed for 1 year or more.

AFROTC
Valor Awards (Gold and Silver):
Awarded based upon approval by the AFROTC Awards
Board. The
AFROTC Gold Valor Award is awarded for voluntary acts of
self-sacrifice and personal bravery by a cadet involving
conspicuous risk of life above and beyond the call of duty.
The AFROTC Silver Valor Award is awarded to a cadet
for a voluntary act of heroism, which does not meet the
risk-of-life requirements of the Gold Valor Award.

Civil
Air Patrol (CAP) Membership Ribbon:
Awarded to cadets who are actively participating in
CAP. Permanent
wear of the ribbon requires participation in CAP for 1 year
or more.

Arnold
Air Society (AAS) Membership Ribbon:
Awarded to cadets who are actively participating in
AAS. Permanent
wear of the ribbon requires participation in AAS for 1 year
or more.
9.2.
FIELD TRAINING AWARDS
While
at Field Training, there are several awards that a cadet can
receive. They are:

Distinguished
Graduate (DG): Awarded up to the top ten percent of cadets while at Field
Training.

Superior
Performance: Awarded
to the next ten percent of cadets while at Field Training.

Marksmanship
Award: Awarded
to those who received an expert rating during weapons
training.
-
500
Club: Awarded
to those who scored a 500 on the PFT.
-
Fleet
Foot Award: Awarded
to the top five percent of male/female 2 mile times while at
Field Training.
